Built on 35 years inside beef plants

Our story

Tim Foster started on the kill floor of a ConAgra beef plant in Des Moines in 1989. Over the next fourteen years he worked up through wastewater, plant engineering and corporate energy management, finishing as Complex Engineer at Tyson/IBP in Garden City, Kansas — hands-on experience in nearly every operation a beef plant runs.

MPC — Maintenance Projects and Construction L.L.C. — was founded in April 2003. Early engagements included rebuilding a complete shutdown plant in Iowa, serving as engineering advisor for plant rebuilds in Uruguay, co-designing and leading the project for a kosher beef plant in Rolândia, Brazil, OSHA abatement management in Georgia, further processing installations in Georgia, and new slaughter building construction in Canada.

Re-established in 2011, MPC project-managed and value-engineered the installation of all beef plant operational processes for the new plant construction in Aberdeen, South Dakota. Since then: post-fire rebuilds of a processing floor in Kansas and a kill floor skinning line in Georgia, process design and installation management of a new 71,000 sq ft processing facility in Kansas, a processing line conversion in Chicago, and design-build work on coolers, shipping docks and box storage in Colorado.

  1. 1989–94
    ConAgra Beef, Des Moines IA
    Kill floor and hides production, wastewater operator, environmental supervisor.
  2. 1994–98
    ConAgra Beef (Monfort), Greeley CO
    Plant Energy Coordinator, then Corporate Energy Director across the beef group.
  3. 1998–2001
    ConAgra Beef — Project & Plant Engineer
    Project Engineer in Greeley; Plant Engineer at the Omaha plant.
  4. 2001–02
    Future Beef Operations, Arkansas City KS
    Director of Maintenance (Corporate Engineering); Plant Engineer from late 2001.
  5. 2002–03
    Iowa Quality Beef, Tama IA
    Engineer, Project Engineer and Project Manager on the plant restart.
  6. 2003
    MPC founded — Evans, GA
    Maintenance Projects and Construction L.L.C., est. April 17, 2003. First engagement: Shapiro Packing, Augusta GA; advisory work in Uruguay and Brazil.
  7. 2004–09
    FPL Food LLC — VP of Engineering
    Led engineering through the Shapiro-to-FPL ownership transfer and further processing expansion in Augusta, GA.
  8. 2009–11
    Tyson / IBP, Garden City KS — Complex Engineer
    Full-complex engineering responsibility for one of the country's largest beef plants.
  9. 2011–now
    MPC re-established
    Aberdeen SD new plant build, post-fire rebuilds in Kansas and Georgia, 71,000 sq ft Kansas facility, and continuous plant-wide work nationwide.
